Charles Lloyd Tucker

December 1937—Sails to London to pursue his dream of becoming a concert pianist

1939—Returns home after the outbreak of the Second World War

1940s—Gives private music lessons, plays piano at the US Base and hotels and also begins to dabble in art.

1948—Returns to London to study graphic art.

January 1949—Transfers to the Byam Shaw School of Art, where he would study for the next four and a half years.

1954—Returns to Bermuda, has a one-man show and begins teaching at Berkeley Institute.

1956—His work moves in a new direction after a trip to Haiti.

1959—Makes a foray into political art with “Storm in a Teacup”, inspired by the Theatre Boycott.  Quits Berkeley.

1963—Marries Theresa Jackson on June 29; rejoins the staff of Berkeley.

1970—Receives the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour in the Queen’s Birthday Honours

1971 — Dies suddenly of a heart attack.
