1921—Arrives in Bermuda to take up a teaching post at Berkeley Institute

1926—Establishes Excelsior Secondary School

1931—Forms first black Girl Guide company, First Excelsior

1934—Establishes Second Excelsior Girl Guide Company

1937—Excelsior Rangers Doris Heyliger and Gaynell Paynter attend the coronation ceremonies for King George VI in London

1944—Has become the first black district Guide Commissioner

1948—The Haven opens with five children.

1949—Awarded the MBE

1950—Retires as a Girl Guide leader

1955—Retires as a teacher

1964—Receives a citation from the Pope

1971—Government withdraws funding from the Haven

1975—Dies at age 92 after several years of failing health
