Celebrating Bermuda Day

Bermudians will take to the water and the streets to celebrate Bermuda Day on May 24.  For a full line-up of the day’s events go to www.communityandculture.bm. Backyard butterflies

Want to learn how to start a butterfly garden?  You’ll get all the answers at a talk/demonstration at Bermuda National Trust headquarters at Waterville, Paget on Wednesday, May 26 at 6pm. The talk is free, but collect your tickets in advance from the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.

Going green

Heritage Month will wrap up with an Eco-heritage Festival on Sunday, May 30 from 12 noon to 4.30pm at the Botanical Gardens. The focus is on healthy lifestyles and holistic health.  For more information, contact Louise Tannock at lvtannock@gov.bm or 292-9447.

Milestone for Methodists

A plaque has been placed on the site of the first Methodist church in Bermuda in commemoration of its 200th anniversary, The Royal Gazette reported. Zion Church was built 200 years ago on the corner of Church and Wesley Street in Hamilton, and led the way in racial equality.

Cultural connections
